Let’s not give up our local hospitals without a murmur of protest

The Green Party's Jon Orrell is calling for people to protest against NHS cuts tomorrow Wednesday 20th September at 9.30am.

In a letter to the Echo he writes

"What will next week’s Clinical Services Review decision date mean for Weymouth and Portland?

We stand to lose all 12 Portland beds at a stroke and later Westhaven beds with only some of the current 36 transferred to the Melcombe Avenue site.

Here we have already lost our dementia beds.

At Linden we are set to lose our 12 mental health beds entirely with no alternatives in the town.

Others may crow that Bournemouth will benefit and won’t that be great for us too?

Never mind the travelling. Look at the beds being lost.

Join us outside the Dorford Centre in Dorchester on Wednesday, September 20th at 9.30am.

MPs have voted for the national under-funding of social care and health that forced the Dorset CCG to cut beds but let’s not give up our local hospitals without a murmur of protest."

Welcome to the West and South Dorset Green Party

The Green Party promotes a broad range of policies based on ecological sustainability, a fairer economy for all citizens and a more equal society. We believe in reshaping our democracy to make it work for every single member of society and to make politicians accountable to the communities they serve.

The West and South Dorset Green Party works to promote these policies locally and to support efforts at a regional and national level.

Membership has been growing strongly both locally and nationally, and there has never been a better time to get involved!

Meetings and Events

The next whole party meeting for members and supporters is in Bridport on Monday 18th September 7.30pm. The venue is the Committee Room (first on right on the ground floor), Mountfield, Rax Lane Bridport DT6 3JP.
