Val Graves joins Green Team as candidate for forthcoming Weymouth West Council Election

6 April 2018

Weymouth West Green Party Councillor Claudia Moore has had to resign to take up a new job as Chief Operations Officer with Weymouth Business Improvement District. As a consequence, there is a vacancy that will be filled at an election on Thursday May 3rd.

The Green Party candidate at the election will be Val Graves. Val lives locally, has for the past four years been involved in the campaign to reopen access to Castle Cove Beach, and has been Treasurer of Friends of Castle Cove from the outset. This follows a career in the NHS, in which Val believes passionately. She also served as Treasurer of Castle Cove Sailing Club for 6 years, and helps primary school children with their reading as a volunteer.

Val says, “I love living in this wonderful place close to the sea, and have always tried to give something back to the local community. I’m now looking forward, if I am elected, to representing local people on the Borough Council.”

County Councillor, Clare Sutton, says, “having known Val since the start of the Castle Cove campaign, I’m delighted that she has agreed to stand for election. She has all the qualities needed to be an excellent councillor, and we warmly welcome her to the Green Team.”
